Last winter, hubby got me hooked on Chai Tea. Spicy, warm and oh-so-comforting, I found that it was the perfect treat to warm me right up on a cold day - from the tips of my fingers right down to my toes.
However, a cup a day in Costa mounts to a pretty expensive habit. (Lord knows how much I spent in Costa last year when Zayn was a baby - I practically lived there, just in a bid to stay awake). So, this year, I set about making my own Homemade Spiced Chai Tea, and let me tell you this...
IT'S EASY, tasty and super cheap to make. In fact, you probably have most of the ingredients and spices already. Hurrah!
If you are looking for a perfect winter warmer, then step right this way...
Enjoy,
Sam x
2 tea bags (I used normal English breakfast)
2 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsps ground ginger
1/2 tsp cardamom
1/2 tsp All Spice
1/2 tsp white pepper
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Star Anise, to serve
One can sweetened, condensed milk
Method:
1) Fill a large saucepan with 5 mugs of water, then add the tea bags and bring to a boil. Stir in the spices, then turn the heat to a gentle simmer and leave for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2) After 10 minutes, add 1-2 tbsp of condensed milk to a mug (or more, depending on your tastebuds - hubby likes his sweet!), then pour in the spiced tea and stir well to combine. Serve with a star anise on top and enjoy!
