What's NEW In Our Beauty Routines? Tried and Tested!

What with our skin ageing and skin's needs changing depending on the season (central heating is a bitch), then we have to update our beauty buys accordingly. With this in mind, we thought we would share with you what's NEW in our beauty regimes.

Firstly, we love a cleansing balm! They are the holy grail of removing make-up, especially stubborn waterproof mascaras. Nothing feels nicer than a double cleanse with our new favourite Merumaya melting cleansing balm.

Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm 100ml, JOHN LEWIS £15.50

This tube of cleanser does exactly what it says - it melts away make-up and any other impurities left on your skin. We recommend to always double cleanse as a face full of make-up takes some shifting and you should never find remnants on your cotton pad after wiping with a skin toner.

We particularly love the fact that it is a lot cheaper than other cleansing balms and it doesn't contain any of those nasties such as parabens or SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfates.) You can also add water during the cleanse to create a milk effect which is quick and easy to remove. We prefer to put a facecloth under some warm water and wipe the product away.

Not many ladies use a serum in their skincare routine and this is a mistake made by many. Serums are an important part for anti-ageing, skin replenishing and a good load of hydration for your face. However, so many serums on the shops shelves contain unwanted ingredients such as mineral oils (propylene glycol) and silicones (dimethicone), lanolins and synthetic fragrances. Always check for these because they can make a dehydrated skin a lot worse.

We discovered in our search for a quality yet not too expensive serum (so many are priced £60-£80) that lots of serums did contain the above ingredients. Eventually, we found Trilogy Age Proof CoQ10 Booster Serum.

Compared to many other skin serums this Trilogy one is a lot cheaper and thankfully without the mineral oils or silicones as mentioned above. It does not have any synthetic fragrances in it because it smells, well, not like a skincare product should.

Ignoring the scent we are amazed at the results this little find has already made. It has diminished our tired, dull, dehydrated skin for a more radiant glow. If you are looking for a skincare product to defy premature ageing and dullness then this is the one to buy. However, you must ensure you are using the right moisturiser with it....

This brings us to this wonderful not too expensive moisturiser by Korres. Wild Rose 24-hour Moisturising and Brightening Cream.

Korres Wild Rose 24-H Moisturising Brightening Cream - JOHN LEWIS, DEBENHAMS, BATH & UNWIND £20

When you want the perfect base for applying make-up then this moisturiser is the ideal skin product to have in your skincare routine. It really does moisturise and brighten all day! Since using this moisturiser we no longer use a make-up primer, simply because we don't need to. Having used Clarins Beauty Flash Balm for it's dewy under make-up effect for many years, this Korres moisturiser does it all leaving Clarins flash balm redundant and saving us a good chunk of money.

Korres have created a miracle moisturiser which absorbs quickly yet leaving your skin fully rejuvenated. It claims to reduce fine lines and any skin colour disorders. We feel it has given us a beautiful glow which is something we crave for after many sleepless nights. A definite win, win.

Whether you are a party animal who can survive on little sleep or like us - struggle to get a full night's rest then you know it is your eyes which are the true giveaway. Puffy, bleary, dark rings and big bags are a sure sign of a woman who desperately needs a good night's sleep.

How do we combat the tell-tale signs of tired eyes? Find the best eye products which meet your needs. We think it is best to have a few eye products, one in the morning to reduce puffiness and hide the dark rings, another for rejuvenating when you have spare ten minutes and finally an evening moisturising eye cream to fight those crow feet. With this in mind, we recommend the following eye products.

We know we have said this before but nothing beats Liz Earle's Eyebright Soothing Lotion for puffy tired eyes. You can use this lotion for removing make-up but we love to squirt a bit on two cotton pads, place on eyes and lie back for 10 minutes. The results are always amazing.

After using the Liz Earle eye lotion we then apply Trilogy Eye Recovery Concentrate. This also cools, tones and brightens for an essential pick-me-up.

Trilogy CoQ10 Eye Recovery Concentrate, BOOTS, JOHN LEWIS or FEEL UNIQUE £25.50

This product is to reduce fine lines and increase firmness around the delicate eye area. It has no fragrance and is a certified natural NATRUE Natural Cosmetic product. At first when using this we were not impressed with the fact no product was coming out as we rolled it around our eyes. After lots of shaking we found it eventually did distribute the concentrate evenly.

We love this eye product simply because it gives the eye area a boost of fab ingredients required to diminish the effects of ageing and sleeplessness. Although make sure you shake well before application.

After using this concentrate we loved how our make-up went on easily and did not interfere with our eye concealer like many lotions can do.

In the evening we recommend using Weleda's Pomegranate Firming Eye Cream....

Weleda Pomegranate Firming Eye Cream, WELEDA £23.95

Weleda is a firm favourite skincare range in I Am Into This' beauty cabinet. We adore their products and always delighted with the results. Nothing beats Weleda's skin food or their baby skincare range. So, it was with great excitement when we got to try their Pomegranate Firming Eye Cream.

Using this as part of our night-time skincare routine, we apply this eye cream after toning our skin and prior to using serum and night moisturising cream. Delicately dabbing around the eye area this cream is incredibly hydrating and lasts for many hours.

The eye cream ingredients include organically grown pomegranate and golden millet together reducing the appearance of wrinkles, tightening the skin and reactivating skin regeneration. The cream is quite runny and you do not need much for application, it absorbs efficiently and requires only a slight dabbing with your ring finger. Weleda are masters at creating effective skincare with lasting results.

Another element in our nighttime skin care routine is a good moisturiser and we are certainly happy with our new find from Organic Surge.

Organic Surge Overnight Sensation Night Cream, ORGANIC SURGE or BATH & UNWIND £12.95

This is a real treat for your face every evening. It does feel like a light cream when you squib it onto your fingers yet it feels rich and creamy when massaging onto your face and sinks into your skin perfectly. Only one squirt of the cream is required for a full face amount.

Many people with sensitive skin have found this moisturiser is a saviour for their skin and we think so too.  Our skin feels smoothed out and more balanced. It does feel like a posh luxurious cream so it's super duper that this moisturiser is not expensive at all.

Finally, a recent purchase added to our make-up bag has been this Liz Earle mascara, we cannot recommend this enough. Having never tried any of Liz Earle's make-up collection before we were pleasantly surprised with how fab this mascara is.

Liz Earle Lash Definition Smudgeproof Mascara, LIZ EARLE, JOHN LEWIS or BOOTS £14.50

As mascaras go this is right up there with the top sellers, yet it is a lot cheaper. We are very impressed with the lengthening effect, no clumping and strong definition. The mascara wand spreads out your eyelashes evenly and gives them one heck of a boost in length. Your eyelashes will never have looked so long.

Do you find with many mascaras that after several hours they can look tired, lack colour and start going a bit dusty/flaky? Yes, us too. But we found this Liz Earle mascara doesn't do any of that. It really is brilliant!

And the Merumaya melting cleansing balm removes this mascara easy-peasy! As with all waterproof or smudgeproof mascaras they can be difficult to remove but with a good eye make-up remover or a brilliant cleansing balm this is no longer a problem.
