I always thought I was a born fashionista. For years, I was at my happiest, my most confident, when I was prancing about in floaty dresses or skintight leather trousers and skyscraper heels.
That, it seems, is no more.
Perhaps it's partly down to becoming a mum, or perhaps it's simply my changing lifestyle, but I now pretty much live in stylish, cool workout gear. Give me some printed leggings and neon trainers, and I'm a very happy lady.
So when Sweaty Betty (those of the colourful, stylish sportswear which every woman needs in her wardrobe) asked me to review their leggings, I leapt at the chance. I had just had Leo and was starting to embrace a new fitness regime, determined to get that six pack back.
I also have to confess to being a bit of a Sweaty Betty addict. Their clothing makes up about 80% of my workout wardrobe. Why? Well, I quite simply adore their gorgeous printed leggings, their range of neon tops (the Athlete vests are a huge favourite of mine) and their micro running shorts. It's gym gear for the fashion crowd.
As soon as I saw Sweaty Betty's 3/4 Mermaid run leggings, I knew they were the ones I wanted to review. With their all-over statement print and neon back zip pocket (did I mention that I love neon?), I instantly fell in love.
And, although they're made for runners (they have a sweat-proof, lightweight fabric which makes them ideal for high intensity workouts), I couldn't wait to wear them to Kickboxing - my latest fitness addiction, and probably the ultimate comfort test for leggings.
So, what did I think? Well, not only do these leggings look great (maybe not quite as good as on the fitness model, admittedly!), but they're also ridiculously comfortable. They stretch and bend with every kick, every move and every punch. They keep me cool even throughout the most intense circuit training "warm-ups" and I've received a tonne of compliments too.
I've also been wearing them throughout Yoga and Pilates workouts and, in this heat, I've been playing in the garden in them with the boys too!
Sadly, these leggings have now sold out, but I've spied a few more beauties on the Sweaty Betty website that I just HAVE to have. Here are my picks of the rest - and some of the sale bargains I'll DEFINITELY be snapping up...
