It is fair to say when you are shopping for bikinis it can be quite a daunting task, probably not if you are an incredibly toned body with tiny boobs and a perfect figure. But for most of us, we have a few hurdles.....
- A different size for your bottom half than your top
- Needing some oomph for your boobs because they aint what they used to be
- Extra support required for those of us who have a cup size larger than a C
- Need to hide that little roll which appears under your bra
- Got those stretch marks on tummies or hips after having a baby or two
- Can't wear hipster pants, have to be hi leg when you are a pear shape
We cannot consider triangle bikinis or as I have recently discovered micro bikinis. We want to look sexy without being conscious of our bodies. So, after looking at some of the latest hot bikinis here's some crackers for you:
South Beach halter bikini top with deco, £15 |
This bikini top can be bought separately, so make sure you buy a plain white bikini pant in the best style for your shape. If you don't have much hips then get tie side to give you some curves, if you are a pear shape choose a high leg which will lengthen your leg too.
Love the pretty detail on this bikini top, it has a halter neck which is fab for picking up those boobies which need a little lift.
Oysho underwired twist front tie back bikini top, £18.99 |
Every girl has a black bikini in their suitcase, it's the holiday classic, right?! This bikini top has great support yet isn't a big chunky boulder holder. Again, pair with a plain black pant in a style which suits your shape.
Freya revival underwired bandeau padded bikini (D-G cup), £35 top £25 bottom |
This bikini set is perfect for many shapes, the bottoms will cover more than we like to show and definitely no digging in at the sides so much more comfortable. The bikini top goes up to a G cup so for a larger up top lady they can finally wear a bikini top without getting the wretched tan lines.
South Beach faye cut out bikini bottoms, £18 |
There are a lot of high waisted bikini bottoms on the high street right now, many with the 50s styling which is coveted by many. This pair I have chosen though are really flattering. I have seen many high waisted styles which I can only imagine a much older lady (65+) wearing, sorry it might just be me. But for those of us who aren't a stick and do have curves then you need to ensure a high waisted bottom is going to enhance your figure and give your tummy some support and control.
Miss Mandalay Los Angeles underwired halter neck bikini top (D-GG), £46 top £30 bottoms |
Hot pink is a sassy colour to wear and it suits all skin tones, the style of this Miss Mandalay bikini is very flattering and will definitely have the support you need. The pants are a higher leg which will lengthen your pins, they have a thicker waist so more tummy control but they don't look like a pair of buckets.
This candy stripe beauty has caught our eye, it's a beauty! ASOS have also got this striped design in a plunge bikini top too. There are a choice of high waisted, low hipster or normal shape bottoms. This is going in my suitcase!
Ted Baker opulent bloom bikini top, £39 |
Ted Baker opulent bloom bikini bottom, £35 |
How about this very pretty floral bikini set from Ted Baker? It's a cracker. The bikini top will keep your bosom looking pert and more importantly, safe! The gorgeous print will have you looking super stylish lying on your sun lounger.
John Lewis eyelet underwired bikini top (B-F), £25 and belted bottoms, £15 |
Bikini bottoms with a belted detail are a win win for us. The bright white against any skin tone will have you looking bronzed, just be careful the bottoms are not see through when they get wet, they must be lined to protect your modesty. This halter neck bikini top will hoist your boobs into a much more favourable position than a simple triangle stringy bikini.
Boden sorrento bikini top and bottoms, £29 and £25 |
Boden is not a shop I usually frequent but by golly they have got a massive choice of swimwear - tankinis, swimsuits and no-skimpy bikinis. This bright red and pink paisley set caught my eye; love the colour and the cut. This is perfect for all shapes, especially pear shapes, the hi leg bottoms will have your pins elongated perfectly.
All of these bikinis are not stupidly expensive, unlike some of the designer ones. We just cannot bring ourselves to spend £100s on something which will only be worn for a two week holiday and never be worn again. Bikinis don't last and easily get marked by suncreams, the bottoms can get snagged if you sit on a rough area (usually the ledge of the pool) and never look as good after you have carefully washed them.
We all love a sound purchase, and these bikinis are great value for your money and won't have your lumps and bumps bulging out everywhere. Hurrah!
